The department reported around 4 p.m., Thursday that traffic is not moving between Exit 16 and Exit 17 (Harriman and Newburgh), and for motorists to use alternate roadways if possible.

I-84 and Route 17 remain open and are passable, but conditions are treacherous, the department said.

At this time there were no road closures, but conditions can change at a moment's notice, emergency officials warned.
